Story

Song information:

LAMB is about Jesus, and placed as the first song on the Smile Meter Album.  The song's break is Jesus.. ;;;;;Stomping the enemy Nations ------> written in end-time prophecy..... Yes, Jesus loves you, and yes,  he's coming back to rule here on Earth for a millennia.  This time, the Second coming, as opposed to the first Coming when Jesus was a  sacrificial lamb sent by the Father to die on the cross for us..... This time, Jesus will rule with an Iron Rod! The question is, for those of us that remain; Will we, rule with him?  The Rod will enable peace.....  The Holy Bible teaches that the people that are raptured up (called up) prior to his return to meet with Jesus, for awhile to be transformed and to learn, shall return to earth to administrate the laws and ways for God, that His ways are greater than our ways, through Jesus Christ who's wisdom is from the Father above. Every knee shall bow and every tongue profess that Jesus is Lord.  Philippians 2:8-11 says, "He humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross." And, goes on to say, "Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God The Father." Therefore, Jesus is our link to our Father above.................Then in, Isaiah 63:3, Jesus speaking, "I alone,-------> stomped the grapes! None of the nations helped.... I stomped nations in my anger and stained my clothes with their blood." The plan is beautiful for us that pass the test..... Jesus died on the cross to erase our sins and give us a new start, only if we ask and accept him into our heart, then, we can start a new journey and live forever in his love and covered by his blood that washes away the sins of the world.

Song origin:

Lamb was one of the last songs written for the Smile Meter Album.  Here's a little gloss on the developement of this song. Mike Ruiz, Mike Young and Roger Grace had planned a rehearsal in the nearby hills as a fun get away and have a break from the studio. To add flavor to this adventure they brought along food, drinks, and their favorite snacks. They unpacked, set-up, lit the barb-b-que and strapped on their guitars while the grill was preparing.   The jumbo size open room was made of slump-stone , wrapped with clear windows on two sides, and had sheet vinyl flooring which caused the room to be echoey. The ambenience was just rignt and to remedie the noice bouncing back the windows were opened to release a portion of the reverberation.  After warming up, Roger ask the two Mikes to listen to a partly constructed and roughly arranged new song titled, LAMB, hoping they would like it.  The result was, nods with smiles of agreement.  Roger roughly sang a couple bars of the song to demonstrate the melody, then smilingly, said to Mike Ruiz, "I hope you'll agree to sing LAMB."   So, Mike gave it a Modest Mike try and it was immeditally evident that Mike could handle the song with ease. Later that evening, the three worked on the rough edges of the intro and the song's break and hone the timming.  The song was later tracked in the studio.

Story

Song information:

Life is written about life that is continually changing  and evolving from one moment to the next, from season to season. Where, if you love God, then, He's working in your life always, fixing and improving.   Life can take you up and then bring you down.  Life can take you away, then round. At one point the song says, "Life can have you singing CAR TUNES.'' Where on the light side refers the Cars band and aims for their sound, meaning sometimes it'S funny, as Looney Tunes.  Then,  on the flip side the, songs ask, "Is there life on the dark side of the moon?"  Asking, if there is life, doing dark things?  No, no, that's death, not life.  Verse, second to final,  states, "Life can be with a sleeve full of friends."  Then, the final verse-line ask,  "IS THERE, LIFE, where it never ends?" (eternity?)  The chorus that ask, Who? I, I'm feeling high.  Was designed to deminstrate, with life, you elevate the mood as in I'm feeling high versus low/down.  For some, "Life can make you wise with age; Life can leave you pondering in a cage."  The song was written on a D-28 Martin and recorded with so many tracks and different guitars, we lost track of which guitar finally make the cut.

Interesting tidbit:  In each verse the song's first word of each line begains and was sung as, "Life."  However, if you listen through the song some of the first words, "life," seem to transformed digitally, to say, "God."  Providing that you're well versed with the Holy Bible, you can understand that the words become more true than as written and sung. That's an amazing, thought grabbing, eye opening occurrence.  Was God telling us something? We thought that was very interesting and amazed at the unexpected verbal irony.  So, ponder and marvel at that!

Story

Song information:

Testing, was developed in the studio.   Roger Grace and Mike Young met at the Studio while engineer John Cox was away working a simultaneous project in Los Angeles.  The ProTools (recording) test session, titled Testing (test track), Although, Roger Grace and Mike Ruiz were studied somewhat and worked as an assistant engineer on this project, they were not confident that they would be able to record, especially, with Mike Ruiz not present. Mike had  working knowledge from his home studio. Thus, the track was titled, Testing.....  After setting-up a single track, Roger turned on the drum machine and tracked the initial foundation.  In the recording industry it is well know, drum machines tend yo usually gain a little or loose a little time on the ProTools grid (not a recommended wat to track). For the interim, ProTools grid editing was required. The click is always recommended.  The first track was laid down with a Martin D-28 and with Mike Young's bass plugged in directly into the board, and the mic, directly into Universal Audio, both wearing head phones.  The following week Mike Ruiz came in and the trio now, continued to track in the cozy control room on a cold winter night. Mike Ruiz was tracked playing one of his electric guitars and playing in various positions and styles on the guitar and multiple tracks.  Later that night, the tracks were emailed to John Cox in Los Angles.  John listened to the track and text back, "that's not bad!"   A few weeks later the group basically expounded on the song in a single secession with John Cox in the control room.  Then, the vocals were added by Roger and Mike from the concept of Testing, where Roger incorporated the standard mic test, as in, "1 - 2 - 3 - 4 testing, then adding testing you, 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 testing, testing me, testing you."  After, molding the song to equate the song to our test here on Earth, which can be seen as, an audition for Heaven.  Where the test is, do you believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?  Do you accept him into your heart? Do you put your faith in him?  Do you ask him to forgive you of your sins? Are you baptized in the Holy Spirit? Are you seeking him? Do you have a personal relationship with him? Are you transforming to be like Jesus?  We believe, this is the test, we  must all pass..... John 10:27....Jesus said, "My sheep will listen to my voice."  John 13:34.... When Jesus was telling his disciples that he was going away and where he was going they couldn't go. Then, He said, "But, I'm giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you.  If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples. And, then this applies to us.

Story

Song information:

End times song:  Can't you see the writing on the wall? Signs all around, anything at all. Based upon the Holy Bible teachings.  We are closer than ever!  Writer, Roger Grace watches and reads the signs, prays everyday and believes that we have nothing to fear, because Jesus Christ shall return and all we have to do is be right (Jesus in your heart)  and be ready. When He comes, it'll be like a thief in the night. The Holy Bible teaches it will be just like in the day of Noah. People thought Noah was crazy for building such a big boat as God instructed him to do. God gave Noah specific instructions.  Also, Jesus said, "My sheep will know my voice." Will there be a modern day Noah? "I think there will most likely are many." Engineer and Producer John Cox seems to dig this song. You can hear Roger Grace and John Cox as they work they punctuate the chorus finale. Roger Grace leads.  Roger, Mike Ruiz and John played various guitars parts.

Thought:  Luke 21:25-28 - "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Note:  Always remember that what has happened you can not effect, but, you can still pray.  Let not your heart be troubled with that what which has already happened, but stay in prayer and have faith.

Story

Song information:

Super Terrestrial  was one of the more creative songs on the album along with the song "Ticket." ......The song initially started  at Star Recording in the rehearsal/tracking room with Drummer Randy Rodriguez sitting on the drum throne  while Roger Grace was playing freestyle and sort of goofing around with notes trying to rouse a laugh out of Randy which was the norm for the two.  At times the pair would laughed the entire session. Roger was playing with quarter notes with his yellow Springfield 335 guitar plugged into a small practice amp and experimenting and at the moment Roger played the quarter notes that became the beginning verse notes, played in C#, when Randy quickly interjected and laughingly said, "Hey Roger, write a song using those four quarter notes and build a song using that as a foundation."  Roger laughed, and said, "Ok, I accept your challenge." And within a couple days the four quarter notes were built upon and assembled into the frame work for  Super Terrestrial.  According to Roger the notes and rest of the frame just came together easily, as if I had a Supernatural hand guiding me. I believe, I just went home and finished the song.....  Roger and Randy arduously practiced the song's notes and beats over the span of the following couple weeks until and became interesting.  The pair introduced the Super Terrestrial frame work to guitarist and vocalist Mike Ruiz and Mike just smiled and said, "Hey now, Let's Do It!" and picked up his Parker fly and played as if he already knew the song. Development of the Lyrics which were written by Roger during the tracking of the frame of the song, (not usually recommended)  in between takes and were designed to get the listener to think about what's in Heaven, what to expect and to spark thought, interest and hunger to know.  The group agrees that the song is truly a fun song.  Something to remember: Song writer, Niel Siedel stopped by during the tracking secession.

Tidbit:  Chorus  #1 & 2 words; "Do you have an *message for us?  Why do we clash?  Why do we fuss?  We need love. We need peace.  then, in the final chorus it says, "The answer is in the question." >  in Chorus #1 & #2 "   Referring to > *The Holy Bible is the message and answer.

Lyrics:

Super Terrestrial are you there? Can you hear me; Do you care?

You hold stars in the sky; Are there Angles standing by?

Is there semi gravity? Is there equal levity?

Are there clouds that filters rays?  Are there oceans, are there bays?

Cho1: Do you have a message for us? Why do we clash?

Why do we fuss?  We need love; We need peace; We need love; We need peace.   "The Answer"

V2: Are there flowers that grow love? Are there showers from above?

Are there flowers, that do sing? Are there bell flowers, that ring?

About the grapes, on the vine, will we feast; Will we dine?

Crystal rivers with fruit trees,  that give life, has no fees?

Cho2 :  Do you have a message for us?  Why do we Clash?

Why do we fuss?  We need love;  We need peace; We need love; We need peace.

V3: Is there dark, among light? Only day, without night?

Is there time; Will it go? Will we care; will we know?

Will your glory be our light; Will you be our sight ?

As you are, Morning Star;  Will you be near and far?

Story

Song information:

Something about it was when the band first started recording.  We had a nice groove going, it felt good and we were excited to be working together.  So, this song basically, is a marker for the MY Cross Connection Band  Getting the front wheels off the ground and it felt good.  The studio, was almost completely finished and everyone was excited.  This song is the vibe for our take off....... Mike Ruiz and Roger Grace worked together getting this fun song to fly. The two wanted to give it an upbeat twist, kinda a feel good sensation.  We remember tracking this song then, sharing with a couple other musician buddies, and they loved it.  Mike Ruiz took the lead guitar and lead vocals. We believe Mike Ruiz also played bass on this song.  Randy Rodriguez was grooving on the drums. Very little rearrangement/modifications at recording. We had a lot fun with this song.  This would be the second song MY Cross Connection recorded, as we were already working on Rain Dance Documentary.  Lot of credit goes to both Mike Ruiz and Randy Rodriguez for their savvy imput and hard work in making the album happen.  Great guys!

Story

Song information:

The music part of this song was semi-written for Mike Young, for its bass parts.  Then in the into of the song the group utilized a hollow wooden frog that gives the song a cool twist. We boutht the frog at the National Date Festival in Indio, CA, from little shop with all kinds of musical goodies.  Love is your friend: Meaning is "God is Love."  The best we can do, is to love your neighbor, as Jesus loved you. Seasons come and season go; Meaning that the past seasons are gone and it's now time to tow the tow; Which means, we need to work together to bring in boat loads of fish.  Jesus said," I will make you fishers of men."  I order you to fish for Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit, you have to shine your love full of Grace, let it shine  from face to face. God is love and my friend, what a  friend, He is if you love Him.  It's time to shine your love and be the person that God made you to be. The song says, " You gotta be light in an eye."..... In the Holy Bible in Daniel, the angel speaks to Daniel..... KJV  Daniel 12:3  And, they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.  12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased..... Vocus on Mike Ruiz and Roger Grace on final verse in sequential cadence, then on to the outro, in cadience, "Pease on Earth, goodwill to men, everybody knows that love is your friend."  An awesome duo!

MY CROSS CONNECTION

Story

Song information:

Roger Grace and Randy Rodriguez working together in the studio during a practice session.  Almost developed in the same way Super Terrestrial song.  The two were basically jamming is seek of original materials and the kinda surfer riff that you'll hear at the beginning of the TICKET was the geniuses of the train ride.  Roger later developed and expounded on the riff at home. Then, the two came back to the studio to rehearse the foundation.  Randy recalls, when he returned with the song frame to audition it to him. Randy, Wide eyed and laugingly said, "Man Dude, there's enough material in that for three songs."  So, they cut and snipped a little here and there.  Parts of the song you can really hear where Randy, his feet and heart into double bass, where he puts pedal to the medal. Although, they admit some of the heaviness was lost in the mix and master, but, more audible on the cd vs. the mp3.  But, never the less one amazing song.

Later after the group and rehearsed the music, the question arose, Is this just a musical piece?  It would have been a challenge to hear added to the frame work. How the song developed:  As Roger recalls, waking into the studio on late afternoon precisely about 4:00 p.m.  Roger entered the studio with an intense overwhelming feeling of the Holy Spirit.  According to Roger, there's no other feeling compared to the Holy Spirit and to receive guidance, such as that particular day.  Roger has said, "If all days were like this, I think I'd collapse. However, I'd collapes a happy person." Then, goes on to say maybe you could live with the feeling? And, if you feel anything like that, or even better in Heaven, then, what a time we'll have..... Continuing, earlier in that week, as Roger recalls, a train concept, on its way to Heaven just appeared (poped) into my head while I was driving.  Roger said, "I can't explain how, but the idea just came to me." Back in the studio, Roger and Randy turned on the ProTools recording session and named it Ticket.  No, prior recording had been done at this point.  In other words the song had not yet been tracked. Roger told Randy that today they needed to come up with a train sound. Randy looked at Roger and ask, "Well, do you have a plan?"  Roger answered, buy saying, "I don't, but, I have an amazing feeling of the Holy Spirit that's been with me all day." Roger was overcome with the Spirit even to the point of having a sizzling feeling,  and turned to Randy and asked him, if he would walk to the corner store and buy something cold to drink. Randy agreed, then left afoot to the market.   Meanwhile, Roger along in the studio" full of the Holy Spirit"  was setting up a mic to record the train sound that no one had an idea of where to start. However, Roger knew, that Randy had to do it with the drums, somehow,   Within about a minute from the time Randy left the studio heading to the store there was a knock at the rear door of the studio.  Roger thought Randy had returned for some reason.  But, standing at the door was a tenant that was renting an adjacent studio apartment, holding a large oval sardine can with two clear 12 oz drink glasses sitting  and a cold bottle of root beer, and he said, "I thought maybe you guys would like something cold to drink."  Now, Roger immediately, in the Spirit knew, that this was no ordinary sardine can.  So, Roger knew in his Spirit that this was the ticket to the train rail sound.....   Five minutes later Randy returned with a big bottle of soda.  Roger had already drank half of the root beer and had the sardine can with the empty glasses set-up and mic plugged in.  The three now, talked about the recording,  with the tenant and Randy slightly puzzled, as to what was happening, but, Randy as the trooper he is downed some soda and sit at the drum thrown and took the drum stick, and with a smile from ear to ear, guided it between the two empty glasses sitting inside the sardine can and began to rattle the glasses in the can.  Roger turned on a "new track" of the train tracks and the sound produced was very similar to a train, but just a little thin and sharp.....  Randy, Roger and the tenant listened back through the head phones in amazement.  But, then again, something told Roger to go plug it into compression and add reverb and dial it a certain way.  Roger pulled off his head phones and said, "Just a minute, I'll be right back."  He went into the control room and added compression and reverb and dialed it in from listening through the monitors, then, walked back around back into the tracking room and Randy and the tenant were both smiling big.  Now, imagine 1/2 hour earlier Roger and Randy were just starting with the Holy Spirit and faith.....A few weeks later the song was tracked using the train rail sound with the engineer and the once to the edit stage John had the brilliant idea of adding Doppler, which literally makes it sound like the train is a surf-train assending on the rails to Heaven as depected in the picture above.  A few weeks later John Cox and Roger Grace spent a day working out the knock on the door by knocking on the back side of a Martin, Recording a squeaky door, adding the sound of train brakes, land door sliding open.  Working of a megaphone sound for train announcements. Roger recalls inserting the different dialog to the tracks.   The part, at the end of the song, "There's is a feast here in Heaven and there is a plate for you was recorded last after the song was completed.  In the studio was John Cox, Roger and Randy.  After listening to the entire song someone mentioned that the end of the song was lacking and Randy, went into the tracking room and in about 3-4 takes, " The Lord is my Shearpard and I shall not want; There is a feast here in Heaven and a plate for you."

 ====Got Ticket?===

This Song is fun, but serious at the same time, as portrays a train going up the tracks ========== On it way to heaven.  You hear train whistles, loud guitar, train sounds going up the tracks to Heaven..... The conductor is walking through the halls of the train, Yelling Ticket, Ticket Please.  There is a knock at the cabin door and you hear the door open and the conductor says, "Ticket Please."  You can hear paper shuffling in the background, while the passenger is franticly looking for his ticket, and then say, I can't find my ticket!  The Conductor, says, "Take  your time and find it, and I'll be back in 15-minutes." And, the passenger, worriedly ask, "What happens if I can't find my ticket?"  The conductor answers, "Well, you know, this train is on its way to Heaven and if you can't find your ticket, you'll have to get off at the next stop." The passenger's widens as he mentally slaps himself, and he says with assuring confidence, "I'll find it!" then, the surfer-style music begins (Creating a little Anxiety and the impression of a kinda roller coaster/surfboard train vibe, especially on high quality sound system) with the train seemingly flying overhead by using doppler to create the effect, which is not obtainable on MP3, however you can get the picture and imagine the sound. On a surround sound system with the speakers, you liberally feel like the train blew by and over you...... After a the music drops back down (fades), you hear another knock at the same cabin door and the passenger say, "Come in."  The door opens, and the conductor looks in and then down and says, "Hey, what are you doing down there on your knees?" And, with enthusiasm the passenger turns around facing the conductor and exclaims, "I found my ticker!" Then, the conductor immediately states, "Your on your way to Heaven."  The passenger replies, "Thank God, I'm still aboard."  Then, you hear an intercom announcement in the background, announcing, "Attention, arriving in Heaven in 15-minutes.  A little more music, then, the announcer comes back on to say, "Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, now approaching Heaven, please watch your step!" (Meaning; You made it this far, don't mess up now!)  Then, you hear train brakes squealing as the train slows to a stop, and lots of sound effects and then, the train stops and you hear the air-brakes; Next the train door opens with a sliding open sound, and the passengers start off loading into Heaven and the music changes to a soothing sound/vibe and the vocals go on to say,"There is a feast here in Heaven,.................There's  a plate for you." REPEATS, then on to fade

Story

Song information:

Escapade song represents letting go of things in your life that dosen't represent light.  It's about being high on Jesus and or drunk on the Holy Spirit. The song starts out, "Take a little ride, down that street..... He'll have you dancing, on your feet." Testifying that you'll be feeling good once you've surrendered and take on the good life. So dificult for a non-believer, but, so true to a believer.  It'll radically change your life and you'll even have more fun by forgiving others, being forgiving and full of love and happiness, thus, you alow yourself to be a free person.  Haters will keep on hating, but, you can't be bother with that, because you are after the Light of Christ.

Song information:  Originally this song was one of the first songs, as the band recalls rehearsing, shaping and molding "Escapade" in adjacent apartment to the recording studio, while the studio was in progress.  The song original started with a different concept of something about a special kiss.  "However, to write and record the song as it was initially would have been like walking uphill against a strong frigid wind carring a trunk full of bowling balls while pulling a stuborn mule'', says Roger.....  "If you have had that special kiss of favor or if you will, special "Seal of Jesus",  then you'll be dancing on your feet, as well.   A person might, but say, I read this in a self motivational book. And, indeed you did, but, it was most likey copied from the Holy Bible one way or another, as principles for the glory of man. By submitting to God, it means, giving up your selfeshness, just lay it down with the pride and live as an instrument of God. You see, in this world, not even husband or wife loves you as much as God the Father and God the Son and they send their Holy Spirit to live inside you.  One might, say, I'm not prideful or selfish.  Untill God's light shows you, you can't see it, because it's hidden from you.  Some will see it immediately, and others will transform slowly.

Story

Song information:

The first song written for the album is remembering the struggling Native American Indian as they were here not knowing the true God and would have a ceremony and dance to their Gods. However, they knew that there were Gods and a higher powers.  We believe that it is possible that their Gods were made up, but God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit may have answered their prayers for people that did not even know or had received the gosple yet. If you recall, Moses had to strike a rock with his stick in order to get water for his people that he was in charge of bringing through the burning desert into the land of Milk and Honey. The song was the first song recorded although the last song on the album and is intended to show our love and respect for our Native American Brothers and Sisters.  And at the same time be a documentary of that particular ceromeny that ask for water like mana from the Heavens. The chorus says' "Send us down the rain that we dance for; Send us up the life that we live for."  Without water there is no life and it ends there.  Water is a necessity for everything.  The Holy Bible speaks of Living Water and streams of Living Water with in you through the Holy Spirit.

Note: Just because we believe in the possibility, does not make it the truth or necessarly make it a lie. It's a song, to provoke thought. However, it does open up the mind to compare the struggles that the Israeli people endured and the how, not even that gereration was able to reap that benifits of the Land of Milk and Honey. After this song was written, it was learned that there is speculation that some of the original Native Indians may have been immigrants for Israel after they were scattered to all  parts of the earth. As the similarities fall within their customs and ceremonies.

How the song was written:  On this song only, Roger took out a piece of paper and pencil and wrote every preceivable word that he could think of pretaining to the Native Indian and their everyday lifes when then were living and surriving so many years ago. Then, started putting the verses together.

My head's up in the clouds, look at me fly

Bridge:

Nothing can break, break my stride

I get the game, I use the hide

Sometimes, it hard, hard to relate

Sometimes it's all about fate

I want to quench, quench my thirst

Let the clouds open and burst

How it works, it works this way
